Phoenix Rises in the Great Tang - Episode 1
During the height of the Tang Dynasty, Yang Yi of the Hongnong Yang clan marries the crown prince, but on the wedding night she discovers his affair with Sun Miaoyun. Disillusioned, she abandons love and pursues power. Using the prince's guilt and Sun's jealousy, she orchestrates their fake deaths and elopement. She secures the palace, bears an heir, and after the prince's 'suicide' installs her son as emperor, ruling as the regent empress dowager. Meanwhile, the eloped couple descends into poverty and ruin.
