Yun Tang, a female general of the Great Chu, dies tragically at Weiyang Lake. Thirteen years later, she returns in the body of Meng Jin, an abandoned daughter of a marquis. She crashes a coming-of-age ceremony with a bandit's head, enters the palace as a 'replacement' to toy with the unfaithful emperor Shen Chong. Through a series of murders, she kills a traitor friend, a poisonous consort, and an enchanting empress, angers Shen Chong to death, and supports a Yun family descendant to the throne. After her grievances are redressed, her soul returns to a mass grave.
